Presentation of the Polo Green HoMe

The 10 January at the University Club of the University of Calabria an assembly was held to present the Innovation Pole for Sustainable Construction Green HoMe to the associated companies and research groups involved.

Since the start, the Pole puts important entrepreneurial and technological resources online. I'm 65 the aggregate companies already in the proposal phase and another dozen membership requests that will be finalized after the signing of the agreement with the Calabria Region, expected in the coming weeks.
The Polo also integrates 23 laboratories of the University of Calabria and the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria and has an offer of 77 specialist and transversal services. In the end, the offices made available on the Unical campus by DIATIC (Department of Environmental and Land Engineering and Chemical Engineering) allow a quick start of the activities.

It was just a greeting from Prof. Giuseppe Mendicino, Director of DIATIC, to open the meeting. Following, the professor. Mario Maiolo, as president of Green Home scarl, presented the governance of the Pole. The managing entity of the Polo was set up last December by five SMEs (Italbacolor, Iavarone Wood Technology, Italcanapa Development, Vega Energy, Solaretics) already engaged in innovation activities in the main Polo supply chains together with the University of Calabria and the Mediterranean University. The majority of the Board of Directors is represented by the industrial shareholders, with Antonio Franzese, CEO, Luigi Iavarone and Salvatore Salice and two university professors, Mario Maiolo and Antonio Mazza Laboccetta. The company statute also explicitly recognizes the role of companies aggregated to the Polo.

Following, the overall project and the Polo services were presented by Giuseppe Rossi and Marida Bevacqua, members of the technical staff. To give substance to its action, the Pole has identified five work chains relating to the certification of Calabrian wood for structural purposes, to innovative multifunctional facades for the redevelopment of buildings, the use of hemp in building materials, to the recovery of construction waste, to smart building solutions for comfort, energy saving and safety. In the coming months, the Polo will work to enhance the skills and interests of companies grouped around these issues and new needs that may emerge, together with the activation of other transversal actions (seminars, short courses, participation in fairs, Green Home day, ecc.) at advantageous conditions for the combined companies.

Closing, the intervention of prof. Francesco Barreca on the active laboratories at the Mediterranean University and the interventions of various associated companies completed the information framework.
