The project experiments in three municipalities of Savuto with new solutions to monitor historic and strategic buildings.
Meeting of the S3HM project in Colosimi – 11 feb 2020
It took place on Tuesday 11 February, in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Colosimi the kick-off meeting of the applied research project S3HM – Savuto Smart Structural Health Monitoring which is aimed at experimenting solutions with reduced cost and greater ease of installation and management to monitor the structural conditions of groups of buildings in historic centers and buildings of strategic interest, which schools, barracks, ecc., and at the same time facilitate the planning of maintenance interventions and the management of emergencies.
After the first phase of setting up the devices and the overall monitoring system, the project will carry out a real experimentation on at least six buildings in the Municipalities of Bianchi, colosimi e Scigliano that, together withNERS Association of civil protection, they had shown interest in this issue in the context of the "Living Labs" supported with funds from the POR Calabria 2014-2020.
I Living Lab they are research and experimentation laboratories guided by needs expressed by the territory, characterized by a direct involvement of users in the development of the final technological solution.
The three municipalities and the NERS Association have given their willingness to encourage experimentation right from the conception of the project idea, promoted by three innovative Calabrian small and medium-sized companies with complementary skills, ALMA srl, SPINTEL srl, Spring Research srl, together with two laboratories ofUniversity of Calabria, lo SmartLab of the Department of Environmental Engineering and the CULTURE Tele Lab of the Department of Computer Engineering, Electronic Modeling and Systems.
The mayors of the municipalities concerned actively participated in the meeting, Giovanni Lucia Mayor of Colosimi with the deputy mayor Antonio Maletta, Pasquale Taverna Mayor of Bianchi, Raffaele Pane Mayor of Scigliano e Tonino Vescio President of the NERS Association.
In the first stage of the meeting, il Prof. Raffaele Zinno of the SmartLab presented the key elements of the project from a structural safety modeling point of view for buildings, il prof. Giuseppe Artese from Spring Research srl showed the innovative sensors that will be the subject of further design developments, l’ing. Andrea Aiello from ALMA srl connected the collection of sensor data with a "digital model" of the building according to an innovative application of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
In the second stage, the meeting made it possible to share the operational procedures for starting the project, also in order to collect, with the support of municipal technicians, useful information to define the scope of the experimentation and to carry out training and dissemination activities on the solutions adopted, also for the benefit of citizens and professionals in the area.
He also participated in the meeting Green HoMe, il Innovation Hub for Sustainable Construction, which played a driving role in the construction phase of the partnership, facilitating meetings with municipalities and collaboration between companies and research laboratories that are among their members.
Participants expressed satisfaction with the operational understanding reached that, over the next few 6-8 months, will allow you to set up field trials.
