EPD certification experience concluded: ready to extend the service with Polo vouchers
The Green HoMe hub supported the EPD environmental product certification process (Environmental Product Declaration) for a broad and articulated portfolio of products with aluminum profiles by Italbacolor which gives the company a further element of national primacy.
The EPD certification was developed with the support of Green HoMe with the role of technical consultant and the certification body ICMQ S.p.A. through the Program Operator EPDITaly.
Why the EPD certification. The decision to resort to a type III environmental label, like the EPD, highlights the will to quantify the environmental characteristics of the products in a reliable and verifiable way and to allow their evaluation in the context of Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) (L. 221/2015, D.Lgs. 50/2016 e D.Lgs 56/2017) and for the tenders public and in protocols assessment of the sustainability of buildings: LEED, ITACA e BREEAM. A contracting authority, indeed, can use the EPDs as a source of information and knowledge on the comparative environmental performance of the products on which to focus attention, to define the relevant environmental characteristics (mandatory and/or rewarding) of products, but also to verify the compliance of the offers with what is required: the latter aspect represents the greatest added value of the EPDs.
I Polo vouchers for environmental certification. With the experience gained by the Polo operators, particularly in the design and research areas, and the availability of Polo vouchers for specialist services (information sheet), still available in 2021, member companies can access the certification at favorable conditions.
