E’ scheduled for next Thursday 11 January the final event of the PROTEO project&PSAMATE: Current affairs and prospects of the Marine Experimental Station of Capo Tirone
The growth of the Sea Economy (Blue Growth) represents a development opportunity especially for coastal communities, but it is strongly conditioned by the disorderly increase in urbanization of the coastal strips, from different forms of pollution, from the excessive exploitation of fish resources and the threat to biodiversity. Development opportunities and strong constraints pose important challenges for planning, planning and management of coastal marine areas. To achieve these objectives, a process of scientific knowledge of the coastal marine environment is essential,
in particular, of the marine habitat in all manifestations of biodiversity. This process requires monitoring techniques such as to achieve the greatest possible knowledge of the significant characteristics of the marine ecosystem using all space-time levels of detection.
In this direction, the PROTEO project&PSAMATE, financed under the OP EMFF programme 2014/2020 – MEASURE NOTICE 1.40 of the Calabria Region, , it was created for the SIC Area of Capo Tirone also having the availability and support of the Marine Experimental Station of Capo Tirone, in the municipality of Belvedere Marittimo, a strategic scientific structure, of the Department of Environmental Engineering, in the scientific responsibility of the "Sustainable Management of Water Resources" Research Group.
